Darren Swann – Managing Partner
Darren joined Leonherman in 1991 and qualified in 1994.
Darren is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
He was promoted to Partner in 2000 eventually becoming Managing Partner in 2005.
Darren firmly believes in spending time with clients to understand their issues and aspirations and to work with them in resolving one and achieving the other.
Darren works with a range of clients from business start ups, family run businesses to Small and Medium Enterprises. He works closely with clients to develop their full potential, helping them to achieve their ambitions.
With outside interests of travel and following Ipswich Town, Darren also tries to incorporate these two activities with a round of golf whenever possible.
Michael Rigby – Partner
Michael qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2002 and joined Leonherman as Audit Manager in 2010. Michael has gained vast experience in auditing having previously worked as an Audit Manager for RSM Tenon and prior to that spending 4 years working for Ernst & Young in Manchester.
Michael’s portfolio includes all the audit clients and the larger non audit clients. As well as providing audit and accounting services Michael also works with many directors and entrepreneurs providing a Finance Director role and advising on their businesses growth and strategic direction.
Michael promotes technical excellence and consistently provides the high standard of service that Leonherman clients have come to expect. He believes that client needs and expectations are paramount and the achievement of these is the main reason behind the success of Leonherman. Michael is also committed to staff development and progression and takes a lead role in training the audit and accounts department.
Outside of work Michael is a keen follower of Bolton Wanderers (unfortunately!!) and likes to spend as much time on the golf course as his wife will allow!!
Rupinder Howard – Head of Tax
Ru has worked within the Tax Sector for over 20 years. She started her career working for HM Revenue & Customs. After seeing the advantages of working for the “other side” Ru embarked on a career within the accountancy profession. From leaving the Revenue Ru has worked within a mixed range of practices, from Baker Tilly to Bennett Brooks. She has gained a wealth of experience working with both small and large corporate companies and the everyday director, sole trader and partnership to the more complex personal tax client.
Ru joined Leonherman in 2011 as a Tax Senior to manage the tax compliance side of the practice and has since progressed into the Head of Tax. In this role she will be more client focused, finding solutions and services that best suit our client’s needs.
Outside work Ru spends her time looking after her two boys, in her spare time Ru enjoys a game of Netball and plays regularly in the Bolton League.
Grace Prosser – Business Services Manager
Grace joined Leonherman as an accounts trainee in 2007 and has since qualified and progressed to Business Services Manager within the firm. Grace specialises in Service Charge accounts and encourages the use of new technology within the firm.
Grace is a Xero champion for Leonherman and uses her knowledge to train staff and clients in the variety of accountancy software offered by the firm.
Outside of work Grace spends her time training and participating in all manner of physical challenges, her recent ones have included cross country canoeing and obstacle course races.
Ian Wynne – Portfolio Manager
Ian joined Leonherman in 2015 as Peter’s Portfolio Manager after having spent 10 years in the corporate team at Booth Ainsworth in Stockport.
Ian looks after a broad and diverse portfolio of clients, from start-up businesses and owner managed SME’s to some of the firm’s larger audit clients.
He has a strong all round background and enjoys helping small business owners grow and develop their businesses. Ian is an approachable person and enjoys building strong relationships with clients in order to provide the best possible service.
In his spare time he enjoys a spot of Crown Green Bowling and attending dance music events and festivals.
Julie Porter – Payroll Manager
Julie joined Leonherman in 2011 and has over 25 years’ experience in dealing with all aspects of payroll, CIS and more recently the set up and running of auto enrolment pensions. Julie has also trained several trainees in the process and enjoys working as part of the team.
Before working in payroll, Julie experienced life as a nanny which included spending 2 years working abroad for the Mayor in The Hague, Netherlands.
Outside work, Julie enjoys spending weekends in North Wales with her grand-daughter and 2 bichon’s, as well as reading, when time allows.
